When Komodo Dragons attack!
Dragons are (obviously) dangerous animals with a force to be reckoned with. Despite their benign appearance, they are powerful and deadly creatures. If anyone has ever seen these creatures take down prey, or feast on prey for that mater, they know that they should not be toyed with.
Dragon attacks are rare, but they do happen. There are a few cases in particular that may spark fear. For instance, an early report that dates back to 1931 involved three men. They were all sitting on a small forest clearing in Komodo, cutting wood to equal lengths. A 6 ft Komodo Dragon then approached them. Once the dragon was about 15 feet away, the trio decided that it had come close enough, and so they ran. One of them, a 14 year old boy climbed onto a hanging vine, enabling the creature to take a bite out of him. This resulted in a massive hemorrhage and death shortly afterwards.
On another incident, a group of four was out hunting water buffalo. One man became sick, and was left behind by his three companions, to be picked up the next day. However, 24 hours later all that was left of the man were his severely mutilated remains. On a more recent note, on June fourth 2007 a dragon attacked an eight year old boy in the National park. He died of external bleeding because his wounds were so great. However, this was the first deadly attack in over 33 years, which means that these dragons are not all that bad.
